Amazing walking tracks

Walks and relaxation at the Retreat

Not only are there a variety of walks on the Mt Quincan property itself, the surrounding hills, waterfalls and lakes offer a vast selection of adventures from 10 minutes to 10 hours. Atherton Tablelands accommodation that lets you leave your car behind - walk out the door and explore nature!

Crater Basin Walk

This walk commences at the ‘Fiveways’ at the top of the entry driveway. A gate near the Nature Refuge sign provides access to the walk. Another gate at the bottom of the hill is the entry to the Nature Refuge area.

The track around the crater basin is 1km. The walk takes you under a number of large fig trees. Keep your eye out for the tree roos.

Summit Circuit Walk

This track has it all! 360° views of the Tablelands from multiple vantage points, plenty of exercise and a range of vegetation areas.

The walk commences at the ‘Fiveways’ at the top of the entry driveway. Walking in a clockwise direction, the track takes you through an open grassed area,  past large basket ferns and  along the ridge to the top of Mt Quincan until you reach the summit – breathtaking!!! Don’t forget your camera!!!

Heading down the hill you once again pass into thicker Mabi rainforest with plenty of crow’s nest ferns and large buttressed canopy trees. The track comes out near the reception building and then back to the fiveways.

Within 15 minutes drive from Mt Quincan are some fantastic walking options. Here are just a few!

• Yungaburra Peterson Creek walk (platypus viewing) – 45 minutes
• Lake Eacham (45 mins walk & swim!) – 3 km
• Lake Barrine (90 mins walk) -  5 km
• Malanda Falls Park  (30 minutes walk)
• Or a little further on is Mt Baldy (just outside Atherton) – 2 hours
• Mt Bartle Frere (Queensland's highest mountain) – 10 hours return
