Tree Kangaroo

Lumholtz’s Tree-Kangaroo

Tree kangaroos are abundant in the ‘mabi’ type rainforest that compliments the treehouses (mabi being the local aboriginal name for tree kangaroo).

A case study be Dr John Kanowski of Griffith University concluded that the Retreat rainforest supported a population of at least 5 adult females, their offspring and a smaller number of males’. It is not unusual for a female to be nurturing 2 young so it is feasible to expect the total population to be between 14 and 18.
